Mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations update

The mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for WA workforces was introduced by the WA Government last year to prepare the community for expected community transmission of COVID-19.

Since then, the WA Government published the Critical Infrastructure Worker (Restrictions on Access) Directions on 23 December. This outlines the mandated vaccination requirements in respect of persons providing services or performing activities at electricity infrastructure sites.

Confirmation of COVID-19 vaccination requirements

All suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and personnel attending Horizon Power premises or work locations must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the following dates:

  • First COVID-19 vaccine dose: 31 December 2021
  • Second COVID-19 dose: 31 January 2022
  • Third COVID-19 dose booster:
    • 4 February 2022 - if second dose was on or before 4 September 2021
    • 5 - 28 February 2022 - second dose was between 5 and 30 September 2021
    • 31 January 2021 - if second dose was between 1 - 31 October 2021
    • 3 months after - if second dose was from 1 November onwards

Please refer to the Subsequent Booster Vaccination (Restrictions on Access) Directions (No. 2) in respect to third dose boosters.

Medical exemptions
There is a limited exception from the vaccination requirement for persons who have a medical exemption recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register and displayed on their individual immunisation history statement.

Sign in requirements
To comply with the Directions - all suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and their personnel attending any Horizon Power site will need to follow the following sign-in process:

  • Confirm that they have been vaccinated in accordance with the Directions.
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or medical exemption) if requested on sign-in.

Suppliers and contractors must ensure that their personnel satisfy the vaccination requirements - to comply with Horizon Power's sign in process.

Additional information to be requested in the coming weeks
We'll be seeking updated supplier data for various matters including insurance certificates and compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements. Further information will be provided to you separately soon.

There is no current obligation on suppliers to send us vaccination evidence for their employees or contractors, unless they will be visiting remote Aboriginal communities. Please don’t submit vaccination certificates unless the latter circumstance applies.

Please contact us immediately if there are any concerns regarding your ability to continue to perform services in light of the requirements set out above.
