The State Government recently announced an increase to retail electricity tariffs, making the price of electricity more in line with the cost of supplying it.
The tariff increases came into effect on 1 July 2011. The percentage increase that will be applied to each tariff band is listed below.

The average weekly cost increase for residential consumers will be $2.37 from 1 July 2011, with small businesses experiencing an average weekly increase of $3.83 from 1 July 2011.
The State Government also announced assistance for concession customers and hardship assistance measures will increase in line with the residential tariff increase to help minimise its impact.
