Horizon Power has conducted additional investigations and maintenance relating to a specific area in Derby, to improve the power supply to customers in the marsh area.
Residents and businesses in the streets in and around Knowsley Street East, Sutherland Street, Lovegrove Street, Loch Street, Dampier Drive and parts of Derby Highway have experienced interruptions during October and November, affecting up to 349 customers.
Horizon Power spokesperson Jodie Lynch said, "On October 3, a re-closer on this particular feeder, closed five times and eventually locked out, causing an interruption, due to birds in the pole top switch. Our crews were able to rectify this fault and it is not uncommon for wildlife related faults to occur in areas such as the Marsh.
However, the more recent interruptions on November 2 and November 3, do not appear to be caused by wildlife. These interruptions appear to relate to the conductors, which have received additional reinforcement to reduce the likelihood of further interruptions', said Lynch.
Customers are encouraged to continue to report any fault through the Faults Line on 13 23 51 to ensure Horizon Power crews can attend as quickly as possible to safely restore power. Horizon Power appreciates the inconvenience caused to our customers and thanks them for their patience whilst we work to ensure their supply is safe and secure.
