Joining forces to support local communities

Horizon Power has just become one of the major sponsors of the highly successful Kimberley Girl and Pilbara Girl program, run by Goolarri Media Enterprises.

Kimberley Girl and Pilbara Girl promote leadership and healthy lifestyles. The program culminates in contests on the catwalk in Broome in September.

The Halls Creek Music Festival, which raises awareness about suicide prevention and contributes money to prevention programs run by PKR Radio in Halls Creek, is also being supported by Horizon Power.

Horizon Power’s Managing Director, Frank Tudor, said Horizon Power staff live and work in regional and remote Western Australia.

He said the business was proud to support local communities through partnership programs.

“In line with our Aboriginal Employment and Engagement Strategy, Horizon Power works closely with the Aboriginal communities we provide power to, including delivering education on energy efficiency and paying for power,” he said.

“One of the ways we can make a difference to communities is through our partnership program and we have several partnerships with Aboriginal community organisations,” Mr Tudor said.

Other events and partnerships we support include:

  • Gija Day celebrations in Warmun, East Kimberley
  • Fair Game’s Midwest program which involves taking fitness programs and sporting equipment to the region
  • Kununurra’s Barramundi Concert
  • Halls Creek Music Festival
  • The Out There art program which is engaging youth in arts in the Burringurrah community 430 km east of Carnarvon.
  • Teach, Learn and Grow – which provides resources to assist children in regional WA who are undergoing treatment for medical illnesses.
  • Leonora Goodwill Games
