Horizon Power welcomes the announcement by Energy Minister Bill Johnston of the appointment of Samantha Tough as the Chair of the Board of Horizon Power.
Ms Tough has a distinguished career and extensive experience across the energy and resources sectors, including the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Synergy and Woodside. She is also the Pro Vice Chancellor of Engagement at the University of WA.
She has detailed knowledge of regional Western Australia and has served on the boards of several businesses and non-government organisations.
Horizon Power is a State Government-owned regional and remote energy utility which services 2.3 million square kilometres and provides electricity and energy solutions to almost 48,000 customers.
Horizon Power Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Unwin said Ms Tough is well placed to lead the Board as Horizon Power navigates through this exciting period of energy transformation and support implementation of the corporate strategy to deliver cleaner, greener and more affordable energy to regional West Australians.
“We are exciting about this appointment and in working with Ms Tough to ensure a better service is provided to the pure regional and remote customers.”
Ms Unwin said Peter Oates, who had provided valuable leadership as acting chair since May, has been re-appointed to his role of Deputy Chair for another two years.
Ms Tough’s appointment also delivers on the State Government commitment to have women make up half of all Boards, and in Horizon Power’s case, exceeds this.
