Nominations invited for new Aboriginal community advisory body

A high proportion of Horizon Power's customers are Aboriginal people, so engaging with Aboriginal people and communities is a vital part of our core business. Horizon Power recognises the need for effective and improved consultation with Aboriginal people, particularly in regional and remote communities.

To assist Horizon Power to become more effective in the delivery of services to Aboriginal people, we have made a commitment to establish a State-wide Aboriginal Community Advisory Council.

The purpose of Horizon Power's Aboriginal Community Advisory Council is to provide advice and direction to our Managing Director on Horizon Power's service delivery and engagement within Aboriginal communities.

We are now seeking nominations for membership from Aboriginal people who represent their regions to provide input and advice on Horizon Power's service delivery and existing and future energy solutions for Aboriginal communities.

Nominations close at 5.00pm on Friday, 25 November 2011.

The ACAC will help Horizon Power achieve outcomes specified in its Aboriginal Employment and Engagement Strategy.
