Through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program, the business is continuing to support the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre (SPPT) to take its latest production, Beanstalk, to school children in the Pilbara and Kimberley.
Since first partnering with Horizon Power in 2016, the SPPT has given a mix of workshops and performances to thousands of children across the regions. Additional funding from Horizon Power will see the SPPT visit schools in Karratha, Port Hedland, Marble Bar, Broome, Derby and Wyndham in May and June 2021.
Horizon Power’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms Stephanie Unwin, said that getting behind SPPT was a great fit for the regional power provider as the production will delight and engage children in the communities serviced by the business.
“Horizon Power is committed to working alongside our communities to make a positive contribution. The Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is an institution and this funding is a great way to support community vibrance for young people in the regions,” she said.
“The performances will be exciting, fun and educational for the students, who will get an opportunity to engage with the puppeteers and to ask questions.”
The SPPT is just one of the 119 initiatives supported through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program 2020/21 which provided $1 million to a variety of not-for-profit organisations and local government authorities with projects that serve to enrich local communities.
