Following the success of touring their show Hachikō to schools in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions in 2016, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre in partnership with Horizon Power and Healthway will be returning this August with a much-loved favourite show, Moominpappa at Sea as part of their Go for 2&5 Regional Schools Tour!
Between August 13 – 31 participating schools will be delighted as the world of puppetry is brought into their classrooms with this delightfully captivating performance from Australia’s flagship puppetry company.
Moominpappa at Sea (adapted from the book by acclaimed Finnish author Tove Jansson) follows the plucky Moomin family as they begin an exciting new life on a rocky island far out to sea. Each family member embarks on an adventure – encountering the island’s mysterious inhabitants and discovering their own sense of place.
An atmospheric soundscape will transport students to a windswept island – from the rumblings of the ocean to the squawks of sea birds. Moominpappa at Sea encourages students to reflect on their personal and social freedoms and how they relate to others and the environment and is perfect for Years 3-6.
Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and Horizon Power have a long serving commitment to the Kimberley and Pilbara regions and are excited to be returning to deliver performances of their show Moominpappa at Sea as well as offering their engaging workshops for free to schools within Horizon Power serviced communities in the Pilbara and Kimberly region.
